Sailboats - Darwin Range (7 days) | ||
General description >> |
General description It is located in the southwestern side of the Chilean Tierra del Fuego. It is the continuations of the Andes Range and within it you can find the highest mountains in Tierra del Fuego, with elevations reaching over 2,000 m. Darwin Range extends in a west-east direction. Its limits are Almirantazgo Fjord to the north and the Beagle Channel to the south. The range is named after Charles Darwin and is the most important feature of Alberto de Agostini National Park Weather conditions in Tierra del Fuego allow navigation all year round. There is very little difference between summer and winter temperatures due to its proximity to the sea. Winter temperatures vary between -5° to + 5°C with short but sunny and calm days. Summer days (December to February) are warmer and longer (up to 20 day light hours in December). The average temperature is about 14°C, but the weather can be windy and unstable. Spring is a more stable season where days begin to get longer and autumn is remarkable with the outstanding colors of the forest.
