Antarctic Peninsula- Itinerary

Arriving to Ushuaia

(We recommend that you arrive in Ushuaia at least one day before the embarkation day.)As your plane lands in Ushuaia, you’ll be treated to a stunning view.
Ushuaia is a picturesque community nestled at the foot of the Andes with snowcapped peaks and luscious green valleys. Walk along the main street with its charming boutiques and cafes, or along the harbour to get your first glimpse of the seabirds who will accompany you out of the Beagle Channel.

Day 1- Embarkation day

During the morning you can take advantage of this half-day for some more exploring. We recommend that you visit the Tierra del Fuego National park. In the Afternoon you will arrive to the Ushuaia pier for the embarkation (we offer an optional transfer from your hotel to the pier). After boarding, you will be welcomed by the Expedition Staff and Crew. In addition, there will be a series of information sessions and a mandatory safety briefing while the ship is navigating the Beagle Channel into the open waters of the Drake Passage.

Days 2-3 (Drake Passage)

While crossing the infamous waters of the Drake Passage you will participate in briefings and lectures given by your experienced and enthusiastic Expedition Staff. Naturalists, geologists, and historians will be there to entertain and educated you on various topics such as the natural history of birds and mammals, the history of Antarctic exploration, and the unique geological history of this region. Also, you may see the magnificent Wandering Albatross and many other seabirds following the ship as you sail the Southern Ocean.

Days 4-8

Landings, wildlife watching, mountain landscapes and glaciers are part of this trip of discovery. Listen to the calls of the penguins claiming their territories and squabbling over prized pebbles, and the rumble and cracking of glaciers calving, or icebergs rolling over.
Many factors will play an important role during the course of your expedition. Weather is the key factor; all landings are dependant upon the weather, wind and ice conditions. Our goal is to give you the best experience possible based on the three factor mentioned above. Remember that in Antarctica, as on any of our expeditions, safety is first, and all our activities will be conducted above the minimum safety standards.
During days 4-8 we will try to achieve different landings in the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. We intend to visit different penguin colonies, enjoy the stunning views of glaciers and the snow capped mountain ranges, visit with seals and whales, and also experience the adventure, feel the cold, the salt on your lips and the wind in your face while you spend time on shore.

Days 9-10

Back across the Drake Passage to Ushuaia
You’ll return to Ushuaia via the Drake Passage. On board, you will be treated to more lectures and debriefings to complete your understanding of this spectacular continent and its fantastic history. If the weather permits, spend some time on deck for your final visit with the seabirds of the Southern Ocean.

Day 11

During the morning we’ll arrive at the Ushuaia pier, having traveled the path of the great explorers and adventurers, having tread upon the same land and marveled at the same vast landscape. And now, like them, you’ll understand the enduring lure of the White Continent.
